Return of rain interrupts Montmeló schedule
Moto2™ is powered byOvernight rain leaves the surface at the Circuit de Catalunya wet, resulting in a relatively quiet early session on Friday.
The action on track at Montmeló did not get underway until close to midday on Friday, as the wet conditions that affected Wednesday returned and limited the number of riders who took to the track.
The Pons Racing pairing of Sergio Gadea and Axel Pons were the first riders of the Moto2 category to go out on the asphalt on their Pons Kalex prototypes, whilst Blusens-STX riders Yonny Hérnandez and Mashel Al Naimi were also keen to continue building on what they accomplished the previous day.
Nico Terol and Bradley Smith of the Bancaja Aspar team were the only 125cc riders to emerge as they took their Aprilia bikes out for some further work following Thursday’s run out, and Stefan Bradl of Moto2 team Viessmann Kiefer Racing was soon on track as well.
Hérnandez experienced a minor crash but was uninjured, and as 1pm came around some sun was starting to become visible.
