The new Michel Metraux Trophy format
Moto2™ is powered byMike Trimby, General Secretary of IRTA, explains the revised process of selection for the winner of the Trophy.
The Michel Metraux Trophy, awarded to the best private rider in the Moto2 and 125cc classes, has a new format for selection this season, as explained in the attached video by IRTA General Secretary Mike Trimby.
“In the past the Trophy was awarded to the best rider of an independent team, but now all riders are in independent teams,” he said. “So now the riders will all vote for who they think is the best rider.”
“This will make it very valuable to the winner because it will be his peers who have voted him as the best rider,” added Trimby.
With 40 candidates for the Trophy in the new Moto2 class it will be a fascinating battle throughout the season.
