Making the adaptation to Moto2: A riders’ perspective

Watch the attached video to see how Julián Simón, Jules Cluzel and Scott Redding have all found the adaptation to the new 600cc 4-stroke intermediate category bikes.

The Moto2 category’s aim of being a close and competitive class has so far been accomplished, with the 40-strong field of riders providing a compelling opening three rounds of the 2010 season. In qualifying at Le Mans the top 27 were separated by less than a second as the fight for the inaugural title delivers a spectacular contest.

Riders with experience from MotoGP, the former 250cc class and the 125cc category are all competing in the 600cc 4-stroke Moto2 World Championship, and in the attached video you can see how Jules Cluzel, Julián Simón and Scott Redding have adapted to making the switch.

“The weight is a lot different. The engine is easy: it’s not like in 125 where the engine was very aggressive,” said 125cc World Champion Simón, whilst for Redding getting used to the potential of the Moto2 engine is what has required his attention. “The main thing is the power, it’s quite different. It’s a lot more than in 125 but it’s more my style,” said the British rider.
