Iannone reinforces race hopes with warm up display

Andrea Iannone completed a clean sweep of all sessions in the lead-up to the TIM TT Assen on Saturday afternoon by setting the fastest time in the warm up. The Fimmco Speed Up rider, who topped both free practice sessions and qualifying, was the only rider under 1’40” in the session, setting a best lap of 1’39.980.

Just 0.046s off his marker was fellow front row starter Shoya Tomizawa (Technomag-CIP), with Mattia Pasini (JiR Moto2), Karel Abraham (Cardion AB Motoracing) and Claudio Corti (Forward Racing) completing the top five.

Thomas Lüthi (Interwetten Moriwaki Racing), Jules Cluzel (Forward Racing) and Scott Redding (Marc VDS Racing Team) were inside the top eight, whilst Championship leader Toni Elías (Gresini Racing), who will start from the second row, was 15th in the session.

Absent from the session after falls yesterday were Alex Debón (Aeroport de Castelló-Ajo) and Axel Pons (Tenerife 40 Pons), both of whom will not race this afternoon. The Moto2 race is due to start at 12.15pm local time.
