Simón leads the way in Sunday Moto2 run
Moto2™ is powered byThe Mapfre Aspar rider was the fastest round the Brno circuit during a wet warm up in preparation for the Cardion ab Grand Prix Czech Republic.
Julián Simón (Mapfre Aspar) was the Moto2 rider who adapted best to the wet surface at Brno on Sunday morning, warming up fastest in the 20-minute session. The Spaniard’s lap of 2’18.619 displayed his preparedness for this afternoon’s race, and he was 0.722s quicker than Gabor Talmacsi (Fimmco Speed Up), who was second on the timesheet.
Pole holder Shoya Tomizawa (Technomag-CIP) was third as he underlined his strength so far this weekend, with wild card rider Xavier Simeon (Holiday Gym Racing) fourth. Héctor Faubel (Marc VDS Racing Team) and front row starter Andrea Iannone (Fimmco Speed Up) completed the top six.
Championship leader Toni Elías (Gresini Racing Moto2), who will start the race from the front row, was 17th. Home rider Karel Abraham (Cardion ab Motoracing) will not take part in this afternoon’s race – due to start at 12.15pm local time – following a crash in qualifying yesterday.
