The Forward Racing man went fastest in the Sunday morning Moto2 pre-run ahead of the AirAsia British Grand Prix. Scott Redding, Tom Lüthi and Julián Simón were inside the top four times.

Cool air and track temperatures (both 15ºC) and a slightly cloudy sky laid the backdrop for the Moto2 warm up on Sunday morning at Silverstone, where Claudio Corti (Forward Racing) served further notice of his intention to go all out from pole with the fastest time.

The Italian went round in a time of 2’10.636, just over a second off his pole lap, and was followed by British rider Scott Redding (Marc VDS Racing Team). Thomas Lüthi (Interwetten Moriwaki Racing) and Julián Simón (Mapfre Aspar), the latter of whom starts on the front row of the grid, were third and fourth respectively.

Simone Corsi (JiR Moto2), Alex Debón (Aeroport de Castelló-Ajo), Xavier Simeon (Holiday Gym G22) and Yonny Hernández (Blusens-STX) were also inside the top eight times, whilst Championship leader Toni Elías (Gresini Racing Moto2) – who will start from 18th on the grid – was 15th quickest.

There were crashes in the session for Vladimir Leonov (Vector Kiefer Racing) at Turn 1, Axel Pons (Tenerife 40 Pons) at Turn 8 and Debón at Turn 12, and it was also confirmed by RSM Team Scot that Alex de Angelis will not race after his crash on Friday.

The Moto2 race is due to get underway at 11.15am local time.
