Lorenzo leads Sunday morning session

Jorge Lorenzo led the way in warm-up at the Gran Premio bwin de España on Sunday morning, setting a best time of 1’39.899 in the 20-minute session as he geared himself up for what promises to be a thrilling home race.

Going 0.075s faster than race pole holder Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda), Lorenzo, who will start from second place on the grid, was also ahead of Nicky Hayden (Ducati Marlboro) who continues to go well this weekend and was the final rider of the session to come in under the 1’40” mark.

Ben Spies (Monster Yamaha Tech3), Loris Capirossi (Rizla Suzuki) and Casey Stoner (Ducati Marlboro) all placed inside the top six times as they prepared their respective machines for the race, on a track which measured a temperature of 26ºC in sunny, dry conditions.

Colin Edwards (Monster Yamaha Tech3), Hiroshi Aoyama (Interwetten Honda MotoGP), Andrea Dovizioso (Repsol Honda) and Randy de Puniet (LCR Honda) completed the top ten, with World Champion Valentino Rossi (Fiat Yamaha) opting to take it easy during the session as he continues to measure the pain level in his shoulder. The Italian set the 14th fastest time.
