Pedrosa remaining philosophical after Laguna

Dani Pedrosa was unable to claim his first back to back MotoGP wins at Laguna Seca on Sunday after a crash ended his race on lap 11, but the Repsol Honda rider remained calm and collected when analysing his first DNF of the campaign.

A characteristic rapid start, this time from the second row, saw Pedrosa lead into turn one and he was laying down a blistering pace at the front of the race before he lost the front end of his RC212V while trying to preserve his advantage.

“At the time I that I crashed I was pushing hard to maintain the gap to Lorenzo and my rhythm was good. Unfortunately though I hit a bump on the way into the corner and I couldn’t do anything - I was down,” he said.

“It’s extremely disappointing, obviously, but this can happen when you’re trying everything to win. You have to push as much as you can and take risks - and I really wanted to win this race.”

Still second in the Championship but now 72 points off leader and race winner Jorge Lorenzo, Pedrosa is intent on harnessing the many strong points from his Laguna Seca weekend for Round 10 at Brno in three weeks.

“The one thing we can do now is to remember that we were having a good race until this moment, and we were leading the race - this is what I want to take from the weekend,” he stated. “You cannot sit there with your arms crossed thinking about what could have been. For the whole weekend me and the team were working well and we put ourselves in a winning position. It hasn’t worked out for us but we’ll come back fighting at the next one.”
