Pramac team renewed and ready

Riders Mika Kallio and Aleix Espargaró are full of expectation as they head to Le Mans for the Monster Energy Grand Prix de France.

Round three of the 2010 MotoGP World Championship at Le Mans has created a high level of anticipation in the Pramac Racing team, with riders Mika Kallio and Aleix Espargarò setting out with different agendas.

Kallio is aiming to repeat the courageous ride from three weeks ago at Jerez that saw him climb from 17th place on the starting grid to finish in seventh position, a result that has filled the Finn with determination to go one better in France.

"The result at Jerez gave me great confidence,” said Kallio. “I wanted to send a signal to those who have supported me, even in difficult times, and I think I did. I had a lot of trust placed in me even after the bad qualifying there: starting in last place was not exactly the best outcome. But I had a great race pace and that allowed me to achieve seventh position.”

Kallio, who has previously finished third (2005) and second (2006) at Le Mans in the 125cc class, added: “I would like to at least repeat this position (of seventh) in the next Grand Prix, and get a better starting place on the grid.”

For Espargaró the start to the 2010 campaign has been hard, but the young Spaniard is more focused than ever on scoring some valuable Championship points. Last time out at Jerez he showed great determination to finish the race in 15th and take a point despite a damaged brake lever affecting his race plan.

"I am looking forward to the race on Sunday when I can finally try to get a result that can repay the trust and confidence the team has placed in me,” said Espargaró. “The weekend in Jerez was unlucky and difficult for me but I still wanted to prove that I could be fast on the track, so I went back out even if I had been lapped several times after falling and going into the pits.”

“I have only raced at Le Mans three times with a best result of ninth place in 2008 on a 250cc bike. I hope to have a good feeling immediately this time out so that I can have better lap times,” he concluded.

The attitude displayed by both riders has left Team Principal Paolo Campinoti extremely impressed, and he is also in buoyant mood ahead of the weekend.

"I am very satisfied with the result that both riders obtained in Jerez. Mika made a splendid comeback that has given us lots of hope for the rest of the season and which confirmed his value. Aleix had some problems but proved to be very fast on the track and also displayed his great character,” said Campinoti.

“My hope is that both riders will improve their positions on the starting grid and that both can have great races. We are aware of their value, and we will work hard to offer them a perfect bike for this track.”
