Interwetten crew excited at impending MotoGP debut
Rider Hiroshi Aoyama and Team Manager Daniel Epp are both ready to see months of hard work come to fruition in the opening race of the season in Qatar.
The Interwetten Honda MotoGP Team will make their debut in MotoGP this weekend at Losail, with rookie rider Hiroshi Aoyama also making his premier class bow.
The 250cc World Champion will have his first MotoGP race under the floodlights of Qatar, and after a pre-season of getting ready for the step up Aoyama is eager to get his campaign off to a start.
The Japanese rider is aware of just how tough the first race will be, and said: “I’m looking forward to the start of the season in MotoGP. Qatar is not really my strongest track and the conditions there are not always perfect.”
He continued: “Also riding at night is very unusual and I will have to see how I can cope with this new situation. I have to gain more confidence with my bike and I have to learn a lot, but I hope I can achieve a good result in Qatar.”
Team Manager Daniel Epp is also more than ready for the start of the 2010 season. He stated: “I am glad that the season starts now and we can get rid of the pressure of the first race. The last couple of months, I think since summer last year, we have been in preparations for this new season and now we can finally start it.”
“The pre-season Tests did go quite well, but we will see where we really are when the first race of the season is over. Qatar is not really Hiro’s favourite track, but he had a good start here last season, when he was fourth, so we will see,” he concluded.
