Capirossi has options
The veteran Italian has discussed his future after day one of the Gran Premio Aperol di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini.
Loris Capirossi enjoyed a productive first day at Misano as the Italian got through a sizeable workload with his Rizla Suzuki team, comparing his two GSV-R machines and evaluating both compounds of Bridgestone rear tyres.
Capirossi, who is preparing to make his 200th premier class start on Sunday, was the tenth fastest rider of the opening practice and said: “Today has not been too bad for us. This is the first Friday for a while where the bike has been working quite well, and I am really optimistic for the weekend.”
“We have to work to try and improve a bit more on the setting and traction control. The bike is not too bad, we have good memories from last year and tomorrow we’ll try to do the same.”
Speculation has been rife about his future, with media reports linking Capirossi with a switch to Pramac Racing for 2011. The rider said he will know more about his future in the coming weeks.
“First of all we will try to have a good race here,” he said. “I think in a couple of weeks we will know what I will be doing next year. At the moment I don’t really know, I am still talking with Suzuki to understand what their plan is. There are a lot of rumours, everybody is saying I’ll go back to Ducati. This is one option but we don’t know yet.”
