2010 CEV Buckler title fights to take next step at Jerez
The Jerez circuit will host the third round of the 2010 CEV Buckler next weekend, with the 125GP, Moto2, Stock Extreme and Kawasaki Ninja Cup categories all being contested.
In the eighth-litre category all signs indicate that the battle between Maverick Viñales and Miguel Oliveira will be the common theme throughout the season. The Catalan rider tops the standings by a point ahead of his Portuguese rival after victory at Albacete, but Oliveira seems to be edging ever closer to his first victory in the CEV Buckler, having finished second in five of the six races he has finished in his time in the Championship. Not to forget the other strong candidates however such as Alex Rins, winner at Catalunya and third in the overall standings at just six points off Viñales, and Isaac Viñales and Hiroshi Ono (third last year at Jerez).
In Moto2 Dani Rivas leads the Championship chase thanks to his consistency over the opening two rounds, but with Kev Coghlan and his team-mate Jordi Torres both just a point behind it is tight. The category is wide open thanks to the quality of riders competing, and no one can be ruled out yet with the likes of Carmelo Morales, Iván Silva, Iván Moreno, José David de Gea and Ricky Cardús all fighting for glory.
In Stock Extreme Javier Forés and Javier del Amor promise to thrill fans with another close contest having delivered two thrillers so far, both having gone in favour of the BMW rider. Santiago Barragán will be one to watch at this round having placed third at both Catalunya and Albacete and now riding at his favourite circuit. Enrique Rocamora, Julian Mazuecos and Javier Hidalgo will all have designs on success as well.
The Kawasaki Ninja Cup returns to the CEV Buckler after its presence in the inaugural round of the year, with youngster Adrián Menchén atop of the standings after victory at Montmeló ahead of 2009 runner-up Angel Molero and Alex Mariñelarena.
The times of the races on Sunday are as follows:
10:45 Moto2
12:00 125GP
13:15 Stock Extreme
TVE plan to broadcast the 125GP race live on La1, with extended highlights of the Moto2 race.
