Jerez ends with De Angelis dominant in the rain
The San Marinese rider is unrivalled in the wet on the third and final day of the official Moto2/125cc test at the Andalusian track.
The last day of the official Moto2/125cc test at Jerez on Monday ended with Alex de Angelis the fastest rider of the intermediate class, as the Scot Racing rider excelled in the wet conditions as he had on day one. Finishing with a time of 1’55.280, De Angelis improved on his Saturday time by over half a second which was also set in the wet.
Sunday’s quickest rider – in dry conditions – Toni Elías (Gresini Racing) was next on the timesheet on Monday. The Spaniard set the second-fastest time in wet conditions of the test, and was eight-tenths of a second off De Angelis.
Tech3 Racing duo Raffaele de Rosa and Yuki Takahashi were third and fourth respectively, as both continued their adaptations to their respective machines. Mike di Meglio (Mapfre Aspar) and Mattia Pasini (Team JiR Moto2) completed the top six spots and were the final riders to break the 1’57” mark, with Thomas Lüthi (Interwetten Moriwaki) seventh quickest of the session.
A notable absence from the session was Kenny Noyes (Jack&Jones by Antonio Banderas), one of the form riders at both the Valencia test and at Jerez and who has marked his first steps in Moto2 with consistently good times.
The third and final official pre-season Moto2/125cc test is scheduled for March 27-29, again at Jerez,
