Pol Espargaró: “Good feeling achieved”
The Bainet Derbi rider is pleased to have regained the sensation on board his bike after a long winter break.
After finishing the Montmeló test with the fastest time of the 125cc riders, Pol Espargaró was more pleased to have achieved a good feeling with his Derbi RSA machine. The Bainet Derbi teenager was the only rider to go under the 1’53” barrier at the Circuit de Catalunya, a time he achieved on the final day on Friday after again being hampered by a wet track and low temperatures.
“It was difficult to work with the rain and the cold but in the end we found a good direction and made a good time. We have a good feeling with the bike, which is the most important thing,” said the Spanish rider, who ended the test with a 1’52.9.
“We set the best time but it’s still a way off what we set at the last GP here. We don’t have new things to test so we must continue in this direction and work with the new guys in the team, so I’m happy with what we’ve done here and we will see in Valencia.”
Also riding with Espargaró at Montmeló were title rivals for 2010 Bradley Smith and Nico Terol (Bancaja Aspar), Marc Márquez (Red Bull Ajo Motorsport), team-mate Efrén Vázquez (Bainet Derbi) and Esteve Rabat (BQR Racing).
