Satisfied with his first podium in the Moto2 category at Mugello, the Spanish rider praised the work of his Tenerife 40 Pons team and is looking forward to the coming rounds with optimism.

Sergio Gadea was one of the top performers throughout the Gran Premio d’Italia TIM weekend, taking second place in the race after shining in both practice sessions and securing a spot on the second row of the starting grid.

Inside the top two in both practices, Gadea then qualified in sixth place as he maintained his consistency and pace. The secret to his success was a methodical approach from his team which allowed him to ride without distractions or machinery problems, as he explained to motogp.com.

“I’m really happy because everything worked as we had hoped it would throughout the weekend,” he said. “We worked hard in search of a good pace with a full tank to avoid falling behind in the first part of the race and then being forced to pick it up, as I had to at Jerez and Le Mans. It seems like we have resolved the problem. The team have done a great job and this podium is definitely an impressive one.”

Reflecting on the race and how it played out, Gadea continued: “Up until the end I wasn’t certain that I’d be able to finish inside the top three. I tried to go off because I knew Simone Corsi would want to be in front on the final lap. I waited until the final corner and passed, taking the good line.”

After the result Gadea now lies in fourth position in the overall Championship standings, nine points adrift of second-placed Shoya Tomizawa.
