LCR Honda and Qatar S&T Park set up partnership
The MotoGP team and the Qatar Science & Technology Park will collaborate in 2010 to develop the RASAD technology platform.
The LCR Honda MotoGP Team has announced that they have signed a partnership agreement with the Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP) which will see the development of the RASAD technology platform.
RASAD will enable the monitoring of the physiological strain imposed on LCR Honda rider Randy de Puniet as he rides his RC212V prototype on track, as well as during his daily physical training regime.
The technology platform is a joint project between the QSTP and Aspetar, which is Qatar’s Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital. QSTP Chairman, Doctor Tidu Maini said: “RASAD utilises two-way communication technology to send data over a wireless network to a central server that processes the data and provides real-time customised graphical interfaces and services.”
Aspetar’s General Director, Doctor Mohammed GA Al Maadheed added: “This is an exciting project with the LCR Honda MotoGP Team as we will provide solutions to improve the well-being and performance of their rider.”
LCR Honda Team Manager Lucio Cecchinello expressed his excitement at the link-up, and at how it can help De Puniet. He stated: “By working with RASAD we will be closely monitoring the physical strain imposed on Randy while he rides the bike on different tracks and in various climatic conditions.”
“Through this very compact device which records heart rate, blood pressure, body temperature and blood glycaemia levels, we will be able to set more specific physical training programmes for Randy in order to replicate the closest physical strain to that which he experiences when he is riding his RC212V.”
