Márquez aiming for more points at Indianapolis

Marc Márquez underwent an MRI scan and other tests at the USP Institut Universitari Dexeus in Barcelona on Tuesday in order to fully assess the extent of his dislocated left shoulder, suffered in a practice session crash at Brno on Friday. The 125cc World Championship leader went on to qualify in fourth place regardless of his ailment, and finished the race in seventh as he refused to let the injury deprive him of important points.

Upon his return to Barcelona the 17 year-old visited Dr Xavier Mir to determine the extent of the injury, and after his assessment Márquez discussed the results of the test in his online blog.

“The medical examination involved an MRI scan and the definitive diagnosis is a dislocation of the left scapula. With this injury I can begin my functional recuperation immediately, alongside electro stimulation of the area,” said Márquez.

“I’m in good hands and I’m sure that I can improve for Indianapolis, although I certainly won’t arrive there at 100%. In the U.S. I will suffer again, but I am thinking about going there to get the maximum number of points while I continue my recovery,” added the Red Bull Ajo Motorsport rider, who leads the Championship on 166 points – 15 ahead of closest rival Pol Espargaró.
