Iannone repeats top time in session two
The Fimmco Speed Up rider was once more at the head of the timesheet in Moto2 FP2, this time by a margin of 0.639s. Debón was next up, with Lüthi and Elías in the top four.
Andrea Iannone underlined his strength once more as the TIM TT Assen progressed to the second practice session on Friday, setting the best time by some distance. The Italian of the Fimmco Speed Up team’s lap of 1’39.101 was over six-tenths of a second faster than second placed Alex Debón, as he again took top spot on the timesheet.
Aeroport de Castelló-Ajo rider Debón led a tightly packed group which followed Iannone, with Thomas Lüthi (Interwetten Moriwaki Racing), Toni Elías (Gresini Racing Moto2), Simone Corsi (JiR Moto2) and Karel Abraham (Cardion AB Motoracing) all within 0.125s of Debón.
Marc VDS Racing Team rider Scott Redding made a vast improvement to rise to seventh position, and Mike di Meglio (Mapfre Aspar), Ratthapark Wilairot (Thai Honda PTT Singha-SAG) and Roberto Rolfo (Italtrans STR) all timed inside the top ten.
There were crashes for Vladimir Leonov (Vector Kiefer Racing) and Robertino Pietri (Italtrans STR) at either end of the session, and Technomag-CIP rider Shoya Tomizawa also avoided injury by doing well to maintain control of his machine as he avoided a more serious fall than the one he ended up having with 13 minutes remaining.
Moto2 qualifying begins at 3.10pm local time.
