Pons Racing and Tech3 return to action at Valencia
The Ricardo Tormo Circuit will host a two-day test which starts on Wednesday, as the Pons Kalex and Tech3 Moto2 prototypes make a return to the track.
The Pons Racing and Tech3 Moto2 teams will continue work on the machines they will debut in the inaugural season of the new intermediate category, as both undertake further testing in Valencia this week.
Sito Pons’ team’s main objective will be to give both Axel Pons and Sergio Gadea the opportunity to begin developing their respective bikes, as a prototype will be available for each rider. Alongside the pair, the Pons Racing and Kalex technicians will continue the work that has been carried out on the bike throughout the winter months.
“I hope the weather is with us so that we can make the most of these two days of developing the prototypes,” said Team Manager, Sito Pons. “We want to test different alternatives, with a specific work plan that we want to complete. In addition to building the second unit we are working on different set-ups, although I must say the bike has always ridden well so we only need to optimise what is already there and improve it as we need to.”
Sharing the Cheste track with Pons Racing will be Hervé Poncharal’s Tech3 Moto2 set-up. Raffaele De Rosa and Yuki Takahashi will both be working on their machines, which are rapidly evolving, and will test a different swingarm alongside suspension and geometry settings as confirmed by Poncharal last week.
