Pleased Pramac duo ready for season’s start
Mika Kallio and Aleix Espargaró both concluded the Qatar Test very satisfied with how their work had progressed on their respective bikes.
The Pramac Racing team started the final pre-season MotoGP Test with the unveiling of the 2010 livery of their bikes, and the remainder of the time spent in Qatar was extremely productive as both Mika Kallio and Aleix Espargaró rounded off the two evenings in high spirits.
Kallio ended the Test with a slight improvement on his qualifying time from last year’s race at the circuit, and the Finn’s time of 1’56.767 on the second night was the result of a good progression across both sessions on his Ducati.
“I think we’ve made a step up and everything now feels easier, and it seems like it’s going in the right direction,” said Kallio. "We managed to improve, not as much as we expected, but better than the lap times recorded last year during the Grand Prix of Qatar qualification session. This means that we can be satisfied with the work done during these last days of winter testing.”
Kallio added: “The team has worked well and thanks to my technicians we found a good set-up of the bike that we will be using in the first GP of the season here."
Espargaró made a huge improvement from one evening to the next, bettering his lap time by just over a second on Friday night to give his confidence a huge boost ahead of the first race of the season at the track on April 11th.
"I wasn't happy at all with lap times that I had registered on Thursday. Today, however, I am pretty satisfied with how things went for me,” said Espargaró at the end of the Test. “Compared to the last Sepang Test, we managed to constantly improve and this gives us great confidence for the race that will be held here in Qatar in three weeks time. We have worked very well and for this I want to thanks all my technical staff."
