The Spanish and French riders will front the 2010 125cc World Championship winning team’s campaign in the category next season.

Efrén Vázquez and Johann Zarco will ride Derbi RSA machines for the Ajo Motorsport team in the 2011 125cc World Championship after the team confirmed the signing of the duo.

Having secured the 2010 title with Marc Márquez, who will make the step up to Moto2 next year, the opportunity for both riders to further their development has given them great optimism for the forthcoming campaign.

“This is a very important step for me,” said Vázquez, who in 2010 finished fifth in the Championship having taken two podiums. “I am very happy to be part of the Ajo Motorsport team. We have developed every year and I feel that this is going to be a definitive jump towards achieving our goals in the 2011 season. Our aim is to maintain a constant progression throughout the season and we can do this with the Ajo Motorsport team.”

Zarco, who finished 11th in his second season in the World Championship in 2010, said: “I have been working and learning a lot in order to improve my riding over these past two years. I’m highly motivated by this opportunity of working in Aki Ajo’s team and am fully prepared to work hard with all the team.”

Team Manager Ajo expressed his excitement at the project by stating: ”Efrén has risen really quickly to the front group of riders and caught my attention early in 2010. I believe that together we can take the final step in performance and rise to the top of the class, and fight together for steady podium finishes and a good Championship result.”

He continued: “I’ve been observing Johann very closely for the past two seasons and am really happy that we have now been able to sign him. I believe we will have a strong season with him, and already we’ve talked a lot about the preparations. We see great potential in Johann, and his attitude towards working and racing is exceptional. We are really looking forward to start working with both riders.”
