Sepang warm up led by Rossi
The Italian went fastest in the 20-minute session ahead of Sunday's Shell Advance Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix, ahead of Casey Stoner and pole man Jorge Lorenzo.
Valentino Rossi was the fastest rider in the MotoGP warm up session at Sepang on Sunday, with a best time of 2'02.269. The Italian was nine-hundredths of a second clear of Casey Stoner, with pole holder Jorge Lorenzo third.
Lorenzo, who can claim the the 2010 title with a finish of ninth or better in the race, was two-tenths off his team-mate as he prepared for what could be one of the defining races of his career.
Colin Edwards (Monster Yamaha Tech 3), Andrea Dovizioso (Repsol Honda) and Nicky Hayden (Ducati Team) completed the top six, with Ben Spies (Monster Yamaha Tech 3), Marco Simoncelli (San Carlo Honda Gresini Team) and Hiroshi Aoyama (Interwetten Honda MotoGP) the final riders within a second of Rossi.
The session took place with an ambient temperature of 32ºC, with the track 43ºC. The MotoGP race is scheduled to start at 4pm local time.
