Wargala happy with progress already made

Despite the wet weather at the Estoril Test last week, Polish Moto2 rookie Lukasz Wargala was happy with what he achieved with his G22 Racing Team.

The wet weather that marred the Estoril Test in Portugal last week failed to dampen the spirits of Polish Moto2 rookie Lukasz Wargala, who still managed to enjoy his first ride of the World Championship circuit with his G22 Racing Team.

A highside during the final hour of the Test fortunately left Wargala without any repercussions, and he is now looking forward to getting back out on track at the official Test at Jerez which takes place from March 4th-6th.

“I’m happy because, despite the poor weather, I quickly got to grips with Estoril and found a good rhythm,” said Wargala at the conclusion of the meeting. “It was a new track for me so I was expecting the gap to the front to be a little bigger but that wasn’t the case and I’m very happy about that. I’m now very optimistic ahead of the Jerez Test where we will all get the official engines.”

“It’s a pity about my crash because the track was starting to dry up and I was quickly improving my lap times. I could’ve done a dozen more laps or so but the main thing is I’m not injured,” he added.

Team boss Pablo Nieto commented: “The weather at Estoril wasn’t too good. It was very cold and windy but it was still a good Test for our team. Raffaele de Rosa was very fast with a standard engine which is great. It was a new track for Lukasz but he made good progress. He crashed at the end but it’s normal. He tried to push a little and lost the rear but luckily without any consequences. He still has a lot to learn but he can do well if we continue to work together.”
