MCN: Yamaha already working on Moto3 bike

Speaking to British publication Motorcycle News, Yamaha Racing boss Masao Furusawa discussed the Japanese factory’s early steps toward a Moto3 prototype. “We are preparing an engine and also a complete bike,” he is quoted as saying. “We haven't track tested yet but we are doing lots of computer simulations for the engine and chassis. In terms of growing up riders we need to do something. We want to catch up the competitors, so we are doing something for Moto3.”

Furusawa did not say whether the project would debut in the introductory season of the new Moto3 class in 2012, when it replaces the 125cc category. According to MCN the Yamaha Moto3 engine is based on its YZ250F motocross bike.
