FIM to install Research Institute at MotorLand Aragón

FIM to install Research Institute at MotorLand Aragón

The Centre’s purpose will be to investigate and develop technology for application in the world of two-wheeled motorsport.

The Government of Aragón and the MotorLand Circuit have signed an agreement with the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme to install an FIM Institute in the TechnoPark facility at the Spanish track.

The agreement has been signed for a duration of three years and is renewable, and the Institute will provide an important aspect in the research activities of the FIM. Project development will involve improvements in areas related to circuit standards, including protection materials and systems to be used at circuits in the future and to be incorporated into the construction and modernisation of circuits and new complexes.

Other areas of focus will be matters of track safety, medical facilities and approval of rider equipment. The agreement makes provision for the use of the 2WTC building (Two Wheels Technical Centre) of the Motorcycle Engineering Foundation, which was presented at the Gran Premio A-Style de Aragón race last season.

The signing of the agreement was attended by Vice President of the Government of Aragón, José Angel Biel, FIM President Vito Ippolito, Dorna Sports CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta, and FIM Director General Guy Maitre, amongst other political and sporting figures.
