Terol tops timesheets for third time in 125cc FP3

Terol tops timesheets for third time in 125cc FP3

Nicolas Terol (Bankia Aspar) made it three in a row, taking the top spot in FP3 at the Losail International Circuit for the final practice session before qualifying tomorrow.

In the forty minute session, the riders were battling against strong headwinds but the Spaniard was in a class of his own. Terol was the only rider able to set a lap time in the 2.06s, his fastest time being 2’06.957 His lap in FP3 was quicker than his fastest in both practice sessions on Thursday.

Efrén Vázquez (Ajo Motorsport) was 0.931 seconds off the pace setter in second place, four places higher than his FP2 performance. Sandro Cortese (Intact Racing Team Germany) was consistent in third after leading FP3 for a large time.

Sergio Gadea (PEV-Blusens-SMX Paris Hilton) improved from tenth fastest in FP2, to fourth, whilst German rider Jonas Folger (Red Bull Ajo Motorsport) was just behind him in fifth.

Miguel Oliveira (Team Andalucía Banca Cívica) had an off towards the end of the session, returning to the track before the chequered flag came out. However, he suffered another crash in the dying moments of practice, but still managed sixth quickest, over two seconds off the best time of Terol.

Héctor Faubel (Bankia Aspar), was also another rider to suffer a crash in the final moments of FP3, but remained seventh fastest. The final three places in the top ten went to Luis Salom (RW Racing GP), Johann Zarco (Ajo Motorsport) and Alberto Moncayo (Team Andalucía Banca Cívica). The top ten riders were covered by 2.570 seconds.

Danny Kent (Red Bull Ajo Motorsport) dropped from eighth quickest in FP2, to 12th fastest, whilst Danny Webb (Mahindra Racing) dropped just one position to 17th. Taylor Mackenzie (Phonica Racing) advanced three positions to 24th and compatriot Harry Stafford (Ongetta-Centro Seta) crashed into the gravel near the close of practice, therefore unable to prove his position of 26th.
