Tissot launches 2011 MotoGP watches in Doha

The World Championship’s official timekeeper unveiled its 2011 range of timepieces at the opening round of the season in Qatar over the weekend.

Saturday evening, just before the first qualifying session of the opening round of the 2011 MotoGP World Championship in Qatar, provided the perfect moment for official timekeeper Tissot to launch its special range of watches for the coming season.

Tissot President François Thiébaud presented the new MotoGP collection of timepieces to Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta at a specially arranged press conference, marking the commencement of the 11th year of the Swiss watchmaker’s entrusted position as the official timekeeper for the World Championship.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr Ezpeleta said: "The strong partnership between Dorna Sports and Tissot is based on mutual respect for the dedication and innovation of both parties. We are delighted that we can give competitors and fans access to this top-level timekeeping know-how, with its unique ability to reflect the dynamism of our exciting sport."

Mr Thiébaud stated: “Tissot is committed to providing precision and quality to satisfy individual timekeeping needs all over the world. Our role as Official Timekeeper for the MotoGP World Championship is the ultimate opportunity for us to prove our unrivalled expertise, through accurate timing and data management for bikes reaching speeds of up to 350kmph. This is a challenge that fills us with pride and passion every year."

Tissot premiered its three new official MotoGP watches for the year; there are two Tissot T-Race MotoGP Limited Edition pieces and a third exclusive edition in an unlimited number to complete the series. The watches will be available in the market from this Friday 25th March. The 2011 special edition piece dedicated to ambassador Nicky Hayden was also unveiled.
