Iannone leads Jerez warm up

Andrea Iannone (Speed Master) was fastest in the 20 minute warm up session for the Gran Premio bwin de España which was run in difficult conditions after the rain which had been forecast for race day, arrived early Sunday morning.

The shower stopped before the warm for the 125cc class begun, but left the track quite greasy, therefore affecting the lap times quite considerably. This lead to seeing some unusual faces higher up the order in warm up. The Italian’s best lap of 1’57:101 was nearly 15 seconds slower than the pole time set the day previous. Iannone will start from 11th in the race.

Yuki Takahashi (Gresini Racing) was second fastest in the warm up just 0.045 off the quickest lap, he will start from second on the grid today and has equalled his best ever qualifying in Moto2. Third fastest was Anthony West (MZ Racing) who has always had a good record in n wet and difficult weather conditions. The Australian lines up in 30th place, starting from the tenth row.

Thomas Lüthi (Interwetten Paddock Moto2) once again showed his consistent pace from the weekend and was fourth fastest, ahead of Marc Márquez (Team Catalunya Caixa Repsol) who had big off in qualifying yesterday and will start his home race from fourth. Sixth fastest was Italian rider Simone Corsi (Ioda Racing Project).

German rider Max Neukirchner (MZ Racing) who starts from 36th, was seventh quickest this morning ahead of one of of the eight Spanish riders competing in Moto2 this weekend, Julián Simón (Mapfre Aspar). Pole sitter, Stefan Bradl (Viessmann Kiefer Racing) was just inside the top ten recording the ninth fastest time and one place in front of Thai rider Ratthapark Wilairot (Thai Honda Singha-SAG).
