Corriere: Life better as number 1, says Lorenzo

In an extensive interview published by Corriere della Sera, reigning World Champion Jorge Lorenzo says his current status as number one gives him a better sense of security and calmness. “Now I know that whatever happens I already have a MotoGP title, and that’s no small thing. I also feel more secure. When I started out in this world I was very shy, and as time passed and the victories came I grew, but I was missing the final step.”

Speaking about Rossi he said: “He is the nicest guy in front of the cameras, but I have no idea how he is off it. In the three years we were team-mates I never got to know him”. Lorenzo described a different situation with current team-mate Ben Spies: “We talk, we send one another messages… I like it more this way”.

Lorenzo was also not embarrassed to admit he does not know the bike. “I don’t think any rider knows much on the technical side, at best how to change a tyre… I don’t. What matters is relaying correct information to the engineers. I believe I know how to do this.”
