Private testing at Aragon: Simon and Terol on top

Sunny and hot weather greeted the Moto2 and 125 teams today at Motorland Aragon for the first day of private testing.

A week before heading to the Circuit de Catalunya for the fifth round of the 2011 season, various Moto2 and 125 riders took to the track today at the Motorland Aragon circuit in order to refine their machinery ahead of the busiest period of the season.

After a morning session run under perfect conditions, none of the riders were able to improve their lap times in the afternoon, with air temperature reaching 35ºC. Nonetheless, Julian Simon remained on top with a 0.4s gap over Bradley Smith, with the Briton followed by Ratthapark Wilairot and Javi Fores.

Today also saw Carmelo Morales test the Team G22 Moriwaki as the Spaniard is hoping to land a ride with the outfit ran by the Nieto brothers.

In 125, Nico Terol clocked few laps in the piping hot conditions of the afternoon session and called it a day at 16.00, but not without having posted the best lap time ahead of rookie sensation Maverick Viñales, winner of the French GP, and Hector Faubel.

Testing will continue tomorrow at Motorland Aragon.
