Terol to miss Assen race

125cc Championship leader Nico Terol will not line up on the race grid after injuring the little finger of his right hand in a fall during qualifying for the Iveco TT Assen. He travels this Friday to Barcelona to undergo surgery by Dr. Xavier Mir.

Nico Terol withdrew from the seventh round of the 125cc 2011 World Championship after falling twice on Friday in Assen. The Bankia Aspar rider crashed once in the morning, bruising his right foot and sustaining a fracture to the little finger of his right hand. The Spaniard decided to participate in qualifying, but the injury was more made further serious in a second crash at 200 km/h.

Terol was immediately taken to the Clinica Mobile, where official doctors found significant abrasion damage to a tendon in his right hand. On the advice of doctors, the Vice-Champion 125cc decided to have surgery and left for Barcelona, where he will be operated on by Dr. Xavier Mir Clinic Dexeus.
