Yamaha legends turn out at Laguna

Eddie Lawson, Wayne Rainey and Kenny Roberts joined the current crop of Yamaha MotoGP riders in a special presentation as part of the Japanese factory’s 50th Anniversary of Grand Prix racing.

As part of Yamaha’s 50th Anniversary of Grand Prix racing this season factory team riders Jorge Lorenzo and Ben Spies are running the special red and white livery displayed at Assen last month, during this weekend’s Red Bull US Grand Prix at Laguna Seca.

The duo were joined by Monster Yamaha Tech 3 pair Colin Edwards and Cal Crutchlow in Pit Lane at the circuit on Thursday afternoon, along with MotoGP Legends and former Yamaha riders Eddie Lawson, Wayne Rainey and Kenny Roberts Sr as part of a special presentation.

Each of the riders were asked for their most memorable moment in Yamaha colours, and posed for photographs in front of the factory YZR-M1 of Spies. Earlier in the day Roberts took out a specially prepared factory M1 in the celebratory livery and his 1980 World Championship winning YZR500 for a few laps, in preparation for a display on both bikes this weekend.
