Terol displays immediate strength on return

The Bankia Aspar rider got his weekend off to a very fast start upon the 125 class return from the summer break, setting the pace over a second ahead of Moncayo and Championship rival Zarco.

Nico Terol kicked off the opening 125cc practice session of the Cardion ab Grand Prix Ceské republiky on Friday morning, setting the fastest lap of the session with his last turn of the Brno circuit. The Bankia Aspar rider has won the last two years at the Czech circuit, and appears set to make it a third this year with the psychological pressure of a lap time over a second faster than Alberto Moncayo (Team Andalucía Banca Cívica), who was second in the timings with a 2'09.575.

Championship challenger Johann Zarco (Avant-AirAsia-Ajo), who has now placed second in three of the last four races, was third fastest with a 2'09.735. The gap from the Frenchman to fourth fastest Miguel Oliveira (Team Andalucía Banca Cívica) was 0.348s, with Maverick Viñales (Blusens by Paris Hilton Racing) nearly half a second back from the Portuguese rider’s time.

Héctor Faubel’s (Bankia Aspar) was sixth, with Efrén Vázquez (Avant-AirAsia-Ajo) seventh despite a crash in the final minutes of the session as he pushed hard to improve his time.

Sergio Gadea (Blusens by Paris Hilton Racing Team), Danny Kent (Red Bull Ajo Motorsport) and Adrián Martín (Bankia Aspar) completed the top ten, with home rider Jakub Kornfeil (Ongetta Centro Seta) 0.120s behind Martín in eleventh.

Jonas Folger (Red Bull Ajo Motorsport) was absent from the practice and will not participate in the race, having been declared unfit for racing with the reason for the status yet to be declared.
