Folger fit and ready for Indianapolis

After missing the previous round at Brno through illness the German 125cc rider will be back in action at this weekend’s Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix.

Jonas Folger will return to action for the Red Bull Ajo Motorsport team this weekend at the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix, having missed the previous round at Brno due to illness.

The 18 year-old German was sent home from the Czech Republic after a medical examination at the Clinica Mobile on the Friday morning, having been taken ill. Upon his return to Germany Folger underwent several medical tests, none of which uncovered any causes for the dizziness that caused him to feel sick. A subsequent visit to an osteopath revealed some issues with vertebrae and pinched nerves in his back, which were treated immediately.

After an immediate improvement in his condition Folger rode at the Salzburgring last Sunday to re-establish his feeling on a motorcycle, and will be accompanied by his personal fitness trainer Yuri Melani for the remainder of the season.

“My target for this race (Indianapolis) is to produce the performance and result that are expected from me,” said Folger. “I am glad I have recovered quickly and I’m looking forward to my comeback at Indy, where I aim to make up ground and regain my confidence from the very start of free practice on Friday morning.”

Folger, who has scored three podiums so far this year including a win at Silverstone, currently sits fifth in the 125 World Championship standings.
