Spies leads Brickyard warm up session

Ben Spies topped the MotoGP field ahead of the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix with Dani Pedrosa and pole man Casey Stoner following the American rider with the second and third fastest times.

Spies (Yamaha Factory Racing) set the pace in the 20 minute warm up session ahead of the race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, with a time of 1'39.621. The Repsol Honda's of Pedrosa and Stoner were 0.102s and 0.163s behind the Yamaha rider, respectively.

Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha Factory Racing) who starts from the final spot on the front row was fourth in the outing, with Nicky Hayden (Ducati Team) bettering his qualifying time by 3 tenths in the warm up to post the fifth fastest time.

Marco Simoncelli (San Carlo Honda Gresini Team) was sixth fastest, ahead of Repsol Honda’s Andrea Dovizioso and Colin Edwards (Monster Yamaha Tech 3). Héctor Barberá (Mapfre Aspar) lapped ninth fastest in the session while Valentino Rossi, like his team mate, warmed his Ducati up faster than his qualifying pace. The Italian went a tenth faster than his qualifying time that put him in fourteenth on the starting grid.
