Márquez dictates the pace in Misano

The Team CatalunyaCaixa Repsol rider topped the first intermediate class outing at the Gran Premio Aperol di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini.

The opening session for the Moto2 class saw Marc Márquez rise to the top of the pack, posting a time of 1’38.902 on his last lap of 21. The Spaniard was the only rider under the 1’39” mark, ahead of Frenchman Jules Cluzel (NGM Forward Racing) who posted a lap of 1’39.223 and Aleix Espargaró (Pons HP 40) whose time of 1’39.352 ranked him third. The top three pushed local rider Alex de Angelis (JiR Moto2) out of the lead and into fourth place, his best lap was 1’39.358.

Pol Espargaró (HP Tuenti Speed Up) whose first Moto2 podium came last weekend at Indianapolis, topped the timings in the final 8 minutes, finally ending the session in fifth. Simone Corsi (Ioda Racing Project) fell in turn 13 after leading much of the session, the Italian was able to rejoin the practice and his time of 1'39.445 set on lap 10 before his crash placed him sixth in the session.

German rider Stefan Bradl (Viessmann Kiefer Racing) was ranked seventh with a time of 1'39.475, followed by 25 year old Italian Michele Pirro (Gresini Racing), Mattia Pasini (Ioda Racing Project) and his team mate Yuki Takahashi (Gresini Racing) completing the top ten riders in the session.

The single wild card entry in the Moto2 class, Italian Alessandro Andreozzi (Andreozzi Reparto Corse) was 31st in the first class outing, while Japanese rider Tomoyoshi Koyama who is substituting for injured rider Kenan Sofuoglu on the Technomag-CIP team this weekend, posted the 32nd time of the session.
