Aragón Pit Lane brought to life by drums

A different kind of noise reverberated around Pit Lane on Thursday as a group of MotoGP riders were treated to a special exhibition ahead of the Gran Premio de Aragón.

MotoGP stars Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda), Valentino Rossi (Ducati Team), Nicky Hayden (Ducati Team), Marco Simoncelli (San Carlo Honda Gresini) and Hiroshi Aoyama (San Carlo Honda Gresini) and Spanish Moto2 talents Pol Espargaró (HP Tuenti Speed Up) and Esteve Rabat (Blusens-STX) bore witness to a special display in Pit Lane at the MotorLand Aragón circuit on Thursday.

Fifty drummers from the Ruta del Tambor y el Bombo group, dressed in traditional local costumes, marched down Pit Lane playing the ‘bombos’, a local drum typical to the region in the official pre-event ahead of this weekend’s Gran Premio de Aragón.

Stopping outside each rider’s team garage the riders themselves emerged to observe the spectacle, and everyone except Rossi tested out whether they had any rhythm by playing a special drum presented to them as a gift by the group.

Also present were Antonio Gasión, MotorLand Aragón CEO, and President of the Ruta del Tambor, Segundo Bordonaba, as the riders enjoyed a fantastic display of local culture.
