Cortese heads up 125 morning run

Intact-Racing Team Germany's Sandro Cortese led the single cylinder class warm up ahead of the Iveco Australian Grand Prix, with Terol and Zarco following in second and third in the times.

The 125cc field headed out into mixed conditions on Sunday morning, with temperatures around down to 12 degrees and a damp but drying track, thus slowing the field considerably from their running times of the day before. The field cautiously made their way around the track, picking up speed as it progressively dried while a variety of names topped the leaderboard until the close.

Sandro Cortese, who starts fromn second on the grid in the afternoon race, ended the outing in the lead, setting a fastest lap of the session with a 1'41.408. Championship leader Nicolas Terol (Bankia Aspar), who will start from the head of row two, followed the German rider by a margin of 1.127s while pole man Johann Zarco (Avant-AirAsia-Ajo) was third in the outing, 1.139s adrift of Cortese.

Adrían Martín (Bankia Aspar) and Niklas Ajo (TT Motion Events Racing) completed the top five, while Harry Stafford (Ongetta-Centro Seta) did not participate in the outing due to an injured wrist sustained in practice yesterday. The British rider subsequently will not join the afternoon race.
