Terol pulls clear in FP3

Championship leader Nicolas Terol emerged the clear leader in the third practice session at the Sepang International Circuit, lapping ahead of Héctor Faubel and Johann Zarco.

The Bankia Aspar rider led the third and final single cylinder practice session at the Shell Advance Malaysian Grand Prix 0.804s clear of team mate Faubel and a further 0.307s ahead of his last remaining rival, Avant-AirAsia-Ajo star Zarco.

Terol’s scorching lap of 2’13.203 was the fastest of the sweltering weekend thus far, and while Sandro Cortese (Intact Racing Team Germany), who had risen to the top of the pile in the first outing of the weekend, tried to catch the Spanish leader with a flying lap of his own, ran off in the process and had to settle for fourth in the session with a lap of 2'14.438 set on his 12th of fourteen.

Maverick Viñales (Blusens by Paris Hilton Racing) was again fifth in the field, 0.047s shy of Cortese and three tenths quicker than Danny Kent (Red Bull Ajo Motorsport), who highsided before the end of the outing and was taken to the medical center for evaluation.

Efrén Vázquez (Avant-AirAsia-Ajo) posted the seventh quickest time, ahead of Jonas Folger (Red Bull Ajo Motorsport) and Luis Salom (RW Racing GP) who both ended their sessions with falls. Jakub Kornfeil (Ongetta-Centro Seta) completed the top ten with a time 2.252s adrift of leader Terol.
