Zarco moves to the front of 125cc field

The Avant-AirAsia-Ajo rider lay down the quickest lap of the 125cc field so far of the Valencia GP weekend. Luis Salom and Efrén Vázquez posted the second and third fastest laps of the FP3 session.

Zarco rose to the top of class with a lap time three tenths faster than that of his closest pursuer in the third free practice at Valencia on Saturday morning, held in sunny conditions and considerably warmer than the cold and rainy Friday sessions. The Frenchman set a time of 1’42.297, the fastest 125cc class time of the weekend so far, ahead of Luis Salom (RW Racing GP) and team mate Efrén Vázquez (Avant-AirAsia-Ajo).

Championship leader Nicolas Terol rose to fourth in the standings after a cautious day in the wet on Friday that saw the (Bankia Aspar) just tenth in the rankings. The Spaniards time of 1’42.731 was half a second quicker than fifth place finisher, 16 year old Maverick Viñales (Blusens by Paris Hilton Racing Team). Adrián Martín (Bankia Aspar) posted 6th fastest of the session, two tenths ahead of Héctor Faubel (Bankia Aspar) in seventh.

After leading both wet outings on Friday, Sandro Cortese (Intact Racing Team Germany) was eighth in the dry morning practice, his best lap of 1'43.715 was 7 hundredths faster than the ninth place time posted by Jonas Folger (Red Bull Ajo Motorsport). Alberto Moncayo (Team Andalucía Banca Cívica) completed the top ten times in the last free practice session ever of the two-stroke era.
