Iannone on new team set-up
Wednesday, 25 May 2011

Andrea Iannone is keen to improve on his third overall finish from last year and confirm his status as a title favourite with a revamped team set-up.

After a successful debut campaign in the Moto2 class which saw him take three wins and third overall in the Championship, Iannone is eager for more success and can now rely on a new team structure focused on nurturing his talent.

“I really like the new team. The team was born in the middle of last season with the goal to be ready for this year and at this time it’s working quite well," explains Iannone. "It is composed of three partners: my father, Silvio Vercilli and Alessio Salucci (Uccio). No one has a set role, but together they work for a common target: this is a beautiful thing."

"Last year's bike was very good, and with that I was able to have some good satisfaction: I won races and made a lot of pole positions. I chose the new chassis because I felt confident and interested in Suter, and I also had the chance to be part of the great structure developing these bikes."

"We have to improve our velocity to set up the bike. Find where and how we need to work on this bike to be competitive from the beginning of the weekend. Last year, after few races we always knew what to do, but with this new motorbike and the team almost new we have some difficulties. When I ask for something in the box they try to give it me, but they cannot always do it."

After taking victory in the second round of the season at Jerez, Iannone is determined on catching up with series leader Stefan Bradl - as he knows success in the intermediate class will be instrumental in progressing towards the premier class."

"I'm happy to be able to think about MotoGP, this means that I'm approaching this world, but first I really want to get something more important so that MotoGP will be the finish line I want to cross for first” concludes the Italian rider.
