Moncayo declared fit for San Marino
The Team Andalucía Banca Cívica rider was examined yesterday at the Clínica Dexeus de Barcelona where it was determined he was fit to participate this weekend in the GP Aperol de San Marino y de la Riviera de Rimini.
Alberto Moncayo had a fall in the third free practice session at the Indianapolis GP last weekend, losing the rear on the exit of a corner and sustainig a blow to his right shoulder when he was thrown from the bike. The Team Andalucía Banca Cívica rider was first treated by the circuit doctors after which the 20 year old rider was taken to a hospital to further investigate a suspected fracture to his collarbone. The injury was ruled out following an examination by Dr. Xavier Mir of the Clínica Dexeus in Barcelona.
After undergoing a CAT scan, an X-ray and a 3D ultrasound, the diagnosis is that Moncayo has a dislocation and a muscle tear that does not prevent him to participate in the race this weekend. The rider is receiving therapy and treatment that will allow him to participate in the San Marino GP, and although he is not 100% fit, he will be able to ride with minimal pain.
