Bradl leads Moto2 FP3
Moto2™ is powered byViessmann Kiefer Racing’s Stefan Bradl topped the intermediate class times on Saturday morning at Mugello, but Márquez remains quickest of the weekend thus far.
Marc Márquez (Team CatalunyaCaixa Repsol) shared the top spot with fellow Catalan Aleix Espargaró (Pons HP 40) for much of the third and final practice session for the Moto2 class, until Bradl set a lap of 1’53.571, relegating Márquez to second for the session and Espargaró to third. The time was not enough to top the reigning 125cc Champion’s best lap of 1’53.241 of the previous day however, and the German Championship points leader remains in the second spot for the weekend.
Espargaró was the only rider in the top three of the session to go faster than his previous day’s time, posting a lap of 1’53.859 in FP3, an improvement of 0.319s. Scott Redding (Marc VDS Racing) followed 0.033s behind in fourth, while team mates Kenan Sofuoglu and Dominique Aegerter of Technomag-CIP both improved their previous day’s times to put them fifth and sixth in the session.
Alex de Angelis (JiR Moto2) ran the seventh fastest lap of the morning, though he still remains third fastest of the weekend, with Italian team mates Simone Corsi and Mattia Pasini of the Ioda Racing Project team eighth and ninth, and Bradley Smith (Tech 3 Racing) completing the top ten group.
Axel Pons (Pons HP 40) went down midway through the session while unsuccessfully trying to avoid a collision with Ratthapark Wilairot (Thai Honda Singha-SAG). The Spaniard was taken to the Clinica Mobile where he was diagnosed with a fractured left wrist. The Thai rider suffered some bruising but had no serious injuries.
