Edwards sets the tempo in warm up

After heavy rain overnight, the twenty minute session was run under a mix of sunshine and clouds, but the circuit was still very damp. The fastest lap from this morning of 1’46:727 set by the American was still almost nine seconds off Jorge Lorenzo’s (Yamaha Factory Racing) pole lap set on Saturday.

The Monster Yamaha Tech 3 rider snatched the quickest time from the Australian by seven tenths of a second and will start the race from the third row. Rossi’s team mate Nicky Hayden (Ducati Team) was fourth quickest and will head the front of the fifth row of the grid this afternoon. Marco Simoncelli (San Carlo Honda Gresini Team), Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda) were fifth, sixth and seventh respectively.

Edwards’ Monster Yamaha Tech 3 team mate, Cal Crutchlow was eighth, ahead of Hiroshi Aoyama (San Carlo Honda Gresini) and Ben Spies (Yamaha Factory Racing). There were no incidents in the warm up session ahead of the race this afternoon. The MotoGP race will be the second race of the day, in a change to schedule, so the premier class will follow the Moto2 category.
