Axel Pons to return to Spain on Sunday
Moto2™ is powered byHP 40 Pons rider Axel Pons has been discharged from the hospital, but will remain a few more days in Kuala Lumpur before heading back to Spain.
Pons left the UKM Medical Centre in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday and has been staying at a hotel in the Malaysian capital, awaiting the arrival of the doctor who will accompany him on the plane to Barcelona to monitor his physical condition.
Physicians from both Malaysia and the Clínica Dexeus of Barcelona, with which the team maintains permanent contact, have recommended that Pons wait until Sunday to leave as a precaution, as air travel can be harmful in the type of injury the young rider sustained, particularly in flights of long duration.
Pons suffered a major blow to the head that caused a small cerebral hematoma in the crash that ended the Moto2 race early in Sepang. The Spanish rider is otherwise in good general condition.
