Bradl strengthens Moto2 class lead

The Viessmann Kiefer Racing rider solidified his place at the head of the Moto2 class in the first dry practice session of the Gran Premio Generali de la Comunitat Valenciana for the Moto2 class, while Marc Márquez confirmed he will not participate in Sunday’s race.

Stefan Bradl fittingly topped the third practice outing for the intermediate class, just as title contender Márquez (Team CatalunyaCaixa Repsol announced he will not participate in the Grand Prix. The Championship leader set a time of 1’36.966 to lead the field and now needs only to qualify later in the day to formally seal the 2011 Moto2 crown.

Second in the line up was Marc VDS Racing’s Scott Redding who followed the German by a margin of just under two tenths, with Thomas Lüthi (Interwetten Paddock Moto2) claiming the third spot a further tenth off of Bradl.

Dominique Aegerter (Technomag-CIP) was fourth in the session, with Yuki Takahashi (Gresini Racing) completing the top five. Friday’s leader Alex De Angelis (JiR Moto2) took up sixth with a time of 1’37.575, ahead of Michele Pirro (Gresini Racing Moto2) and Mike di Meglio (Tech 3 Racing) in eighth.
