Viñales continues preparations for the 2012 Moto3 season

Thursday, 24 November 2011

The BQR team rider completed a test aboard the Honda powered FTR prototype at the Almería circuit yesterday. The team also granted the youngster a few laps aboard a Moto2 machine as a reward for his great season.

After first contact with the new Moto3 bike the day after the Valencia GP, Maverick Viñales and the BQR Team continue with preparations for the 2012 season. The team traveled the circuit of Almería for another Moto3 test, this time with Honda's FTR. While the weather remained fine, small technical problems with the new prototype did not allow the team to put in as many laps as they would have liked, though at the end of the day Viñales was able to complete around 20 full laps, enough to draw conclusions about the motorcycle.

The day also presented an unexpected surprise for the young Spaniard when the BQR team gifted him some laps aboard the team’s Moto2 machine as a reward for an excellent 2011 season.

Maverick Viñales:

"What a surprise the team gave me. It’s true that I had asked the team to let me try a Moto2 at some point, but I didn’t expect it to happen today. I was surprised by its power and acceleration, it was really fun and I want to thank the team. But the important thing is that we were able to test the FTR Moto3 and we got very valuable information to keep working throughout the preseason."
