Bradl resumes head of Moto2 field
Moto2™ is powered byStefan Bradl closed the morning warm up session on top of Moto2 field ahead of the Gran Premio d’Italia TIM race, followed by Alex de Angelis and Simone Corsi.
German rider Bradl (Viessmann Kiefer Racing), who starts seventh on the grid - his lowest qualifying position of the 2011 season – recovered his pace in the morning sunshine, setting a fastest lap of 1’53.413 in the warm up session.
Alex de Angelis (JiR Moto2) and Italian rider Corsi (Ioda Racing Project) were close behind Championship leader Bradl with the second and third fastest times of the session. Michele Pirro (Gresini Racing Moto2) followed in fourth.
Marc Márquez (Team CatalunyaCaixa Repsol) who will start from pole for the second time in his first Moto2 season, posted the fifth fastest time of the session, in front Colombian rider Yonny Hernández (Blusens-STX), Turkish rider Kenan Sofuoglu (Technomag-CIP) and Aleix Espargaró (Pons HP 40).
Espargaró is the only representative of the Pons HP 40 team, after team mate Axel Pons was injured in a crash yesterday, and is the last of the field to finish under the 1’54 mark.
Bradley Smith (Tech 3), who will start from third on the grid for the race, set the 10th fastest time, ahead of Frenchman Jules Cluzel (Forward Racing).
Randy Krummenacher (GP Team Switzerland Kiefer Racing) who starts from fifth on the grid, crashed while leading the top of the timings, and Yuki Takahashi (Gresini Racing), who starts 15th, was set to move to second in the timings when he lowsided in turn 15. Both riders were unhurt.
