Rossi leads timings in damp MotoGP warm

Saturday, 25 June 2011

The premier class riders had just a few minutes of dry track in their twenty-minute warm up ahead of the Iveco TT Assen race, with Rossi setting the top time before the arrival of rain.

Valentino Rossi (Ducati Team) lead the premier class warm up with a time of 1’41.362, which began dry and ended wet. Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha Factory Team), posted the second fastest time, with Ben Spies (Yamaha Factory Racing), who will start from second place, Nicky Hayden (Ducati Team) and Andrea Dovizioso (Repsol Honda) rounding out the top five times.

A misty drizzle began just after the start of the premier class warm up, which made tire choice and set up a difficult decision, as riders entered and exited the boxes several times for changes to both. With six minutes to go as many as 6 riders had not completed a full lap. Marco Simoncelli (San Carlo Honda Gresini) and Casey Stoner (Repsol Honda), who start from first and third place in the grid, only appeared on the track at the end of the session to complete a total of three laps each.
