Two months after the road traffic accident in Thailand which left him with serious injuries, Ratthapark Wilairot has today been given the medical all-clear to compete in the 2011 Moto2 World Championship.
The Stop and Go Team rider was given the necessary medical clearance to compete this year by the doctor at the Bumrungrad Hospital in Bangkok, who has been supervising his recovery since the accident in early December.
Wilairot’s team was delighted to receive the news on Friday and said it expects the 22 year-old to return to action at the Jerez Test, which is scheduled to take place from March 4th-6th and at which Wilairot hopes to have his first contact with his 2011 FTR machine.
Wilairot was admitted to the Bumrungrad Hospital following an accident on December 6th, in which he suffered injuries to his head and hands. After a brief period in the Intensive Care Unit, Wilairot was discharged from the hospital two weeks after his accident and began a rehabilitation programme which has culminated in his clearance to now compete in the 2011 Moto2 World Championship.
